Vietnam Wall Art

Years back, I took a kid from the YMCA on a trip to Washington D.C. I love that town and always took it to the limit in that city. Recently, I came across a pastel sketch of the names on the Vietnam Wall I grabbed while looking at that captivating testament to American War .. enjoy your world out there today ..

4 Cool European Travel Drops

There must have been something in the air today .. I was pondering a journal I kept back in 2000 during my first trip to Italy .. as I was thinking that, a teacher at the high school by the name of Mel was talking about some drops he made recently .. my work was placed in Rome, Venice, Sorrento, Italy - along with Athens, Greece .. the proverbial travel dot continues to spread .. Cheers out there ..

YMCA Art Auction

I wanted to take this time to thank you for participating in the YMCA Art Auction last Thursday evening. Your painting of the American Skyline at Dusk was sold, however the American Skyline at Morning was not. I believe we will begin cutting checks the beginning of next week for all sold art.

We have a few options when it comes to returning your art. You can come pick it up anytime between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the week at our office in Bonner Springs. We are also planning a bigger event similar to the one we just hosted on October 4th. This will be held at The Chateau Avalon in the Legends area. We would be more than willing to hold on to your other piece and put it in this auction. Whatever you choose is fine by us. Let me know what you decide and if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks again for your participation!

The Art Door in the Summertime

A very good friend of mine, Mark, and his wife Jenny wanted to commission me to do a rather unique painting for a huge wall in the entryway of their home .. their request was an old door and to do whatever felt right on that flank of wood .. the result is this .. it was quite cool to do and I am getting rather comfortable doing work on pieces that are rather non-traditional .. soon, it will be signed/sealed/delivered to the home for a permanent resting place .. cheers out there ..

Hard Beans, Auctions, Banks and Indonesia

Here's a bit of what's been going on lately in the photo.paint world. First, there's a show at the Hard Bean Cafe in downtown Grandview that is going from May - June 2008. A video below shows a sweep of what the show looks like. Also, just gave several cityscapes to the YMCA for an auction in KCK on May 29th. Then, I have 3 pieces that will be on a group display at a Bank in Downtown Peculiar, MO. Finally, my good friend Leah will be taking several pieces of my art over the weekend to Indonesia for the 'travel' adventures. All will be well documented with video/pics for your later viewing pleasure .. I beleive that's all .. cheers ..

It's always nice to divulge the creative ways with the kids and I was impressed with the voracity of their work .. they key is to cultivate and I think these kids are off to a rousing start .. cheers ..

Blinding Light Signature Painting

My 10-year old boy, Zen, asked me to do a painting of what I thought it was going to be like when that first blast of light hits me right after one passes on. It seemed rather dour, but I decided to go with it. After I finished the piece, I showed Zen and he was immediately like, 'Wow Dad, I get to see your signature in the corner when the light hits me.' He's gone on and on how he will see my signature in the lower left hand corner when it's all said and done. Quite cool ..

Circle Paintings Lately

This has been my second 'circle' themed painting I have been commissioned for in the last several weeks .. the first one was a reprint of a commissioned circle piece I did for a person years ago .. this framed reprint will reside in the Grandview Alternative School .. across the hallways at the Center for Alternative Instruction in the Grandview School District, I made a piece called 'Circle of Courage' that is based off an actual design/credo .. they were happy with it .. other than that, i'm going to start painting an old rocking chair to continue my more subdued romp in the artworld .. cheers ..

Travel Paints in Old Belton

Miles and I got back into the groove this weekend and made about 4 drops in Belton over the weekend. It was the older, much cooler part of town. Also, I have picked up the materials for a new commissioned project I'm doing for the Grandview School District .. I miss the brush .. cheers.

I just had a friend tip me off to a new web site called - 'the museum of bad art' .. it's a haunting, yet delightful romp through all that is odd, found and bizzare .. take a look on your own - http://www.museumofbadart.org/index.html - also, i'm starting to really miss the regular intervals of painting .. got dirty in the studio this morning and it felt real nice .. also, i just framed a commissioned piece of art for the Grandview school district .. it's going to hang in a conference room .. keep on out there ..

Contests & Kid Room

I just entered my KC Landscape painting into a competition put on by Harrah's. The winner will get a 90-foot mural put on a downtown building and $10,000 - onto more realistic measures, I have tweaked and hung a night/day painting pair in Miles' room. I'm having a hard time finding some prized photo albums I need to get some ideas churning .. as I keep looking for them .. it grows delightfully colder/autumn outside .. enjoy ..

Making Art for My Son - Small Travels

As the quietude continues, I realize that the only thing I have been doing for months is creating art for my son's room. It's quite nice and I'm just prepping myself for a new schedule and more time in the studio. As far as shows and such are concerned, the only thing that is still going on is the River's Bend Studio in Parkville, MO .. The other day I got some pics from some of my travel pieces in Hawaii. Also, Miles and I have gone to Peculiar and Harrisonville on some mini trips to drop stuff off .. enjoy your life out there, ya hear ..
