Healing 9-11-01 Via Art

My loverly wife Caroline had a very profound notion the other night about all of my cityscape paintings I have been doing lately .. she said it was my way of coping or healing after 9-11 and she's very right .. I wouldn't have ever consciously jumped into window frame scenes with city scapes as some healing mechanism to that day that likely scarred us all in ways our subconscious won't full let on about .. but, maybe I found the healthiest way my brain could find to come to that grand healing conclusion about a damned bad day around this country .. but, I was actually in Venice, Italy that day and didn't get home until a week later .. but, the pangs hit me in a very profound, yet different way .. at any rate, it was a good assessment of a nice series .. cheers ..

Slight Emmy Win

In a very small, almost minute way, I was a part of an Emmy win the other day with my work through Current.Tv. The station picked up the award for “Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Television” and I was a small part of that with my Kansas Flooding piece that aired through July. Currently, I am trying to see if my 'Travel Photo.Paint' piece gets aired as well. No word yet, but for all of you voting and pulling for it, it's all well worth it. Tune in and enjoy it out there, kids ..

More Travel News .. The Spreading

One of your pics is going to Ireland later this month. One was dropped in Sydney, Australia over the summer. I haven't gotten to check on the other yet, but one was suposed to go to Hawaii too. - Lori, Kansas City Troop Leader

I'm headed to Calgary, Alberta, Canada in mid-October and will be in Livonia (Detroit), MI, too, early that month. Send me several items because I'll be all over the country for work the next many months. Glad to help.
- Brian, Blue Springs, MO

This morning I ran into a friend while having coffee. He told me he'd received an email from a friend of his asking him to check out a web site that linked him to video documentary that included a photo of my neighbor Dan, who he went to highschool with...got all that? Six degrees of separation, as always, led me to your the details of your project and I'd like to get involved! I travel here and there, but I have friends in faraway places that I think would get a kick out of your project. How can I get involved?

Hi to you all - judi

Art Alternate

I got word from the Westport Art Fair coordinator that I'm an alternate for the fair that is coming up in September. Kind of feel like I'm back on the baseball team and the starter might come down with the stomach flu and i'll come flying in with all my paints and canvases. So, gear up, I'm selling baseball shirts with a smudge of paint for the low price of sixty cents a piece. Odd and interesting, this art world in KC is ..

iowa travelin' home

my trusted confidant, inspector beaudoin, deposited several of my paintings up at a ball field in iowa during some rock and roll shows .. here's his report:

Hey man,
Your art has now traveled to Des Moines, Iowa and Principal Park. In the first picture, I posed your piece of art near an empty Iowa Cubs kiosk. In the second, we use the Jumbo Tron as a backdrop. I dropped off your piece in left field GA during the first show, Collective Soul. By the time Third Eye Blind came on, it was gone....hopefully in the hands of someone not gouging their eyes out because Third Eye Blind was playing.

This is just the beginning, Joe.

Just the beginning - jfb

Post TV Thoughts

i told my loverly wife caroline before this TV interview that my perception of what was going to happen and what was to actually happen was going to be huge .. and it was .. i thought i was going to interviewed on my 'photo.paint travel' bit, but it turned out that i was being interviewed about my upcoming coffee girls show and my youngest son miles .. i ended up taking control of the interview and it all turned out to be good publicity .. also, i got yelled at a bit by the producer for missing my pre-interview bit .. this was becuase she was poor at communicating exactly where I needed to be .. those poor people in network news are so nasty, overworked, under-paid and waiting for the big 'paris' dream to fall into their laps .. it's hard to talk to them about their reactions - but, it all happened .. click here for a rather low rent look at the interview and a cleaner copy will be done soon .. thanks again for everyone's continued support ..
