tech village

several weeks back, zen boy and i constructed a couple of tech villages to mimic what towns look like from 20,000 feet up in the air from an airplane window .. several of these were made and i'm looking for a couple of good walls to hang these .. cheers ..

art & political rallys

a good friend of mine, jfb, runs a couple of newspapers in Iowa and recently attended a town hall meeting with barack obama .. the photo.paint venture was a part of the adventure .. here is what jfb had to say .. "Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the whole event. It was run like a true town hall forum with anyone in the crowd able to come up and ask a question. ...at one point, I even screamed out 'Joe Dimino dot com!' .. I thought they were going to throw me out."

short lived painting

the other night, i swapped out a painting for a bio i had hanging at the cerner install .. well, that painting promplty sold that evening .. i barely had the painting over a week .. i'm very glad it's going into good hands .. enjoy it, jim .. cheers ..

artist reception at cerner

several nights ago, we had a very nice eve at Cerner Corporation talking to a nice group of employees .. they were full of hospitality and made the group at ease .. it was one of the best places i have ever had an artist reception .. good work, cerner and thanks to dawn and the vision center .. if you want to take a look at a condensed version of the speech i gave to the group about my work, click here .. cheers ..

the vision of art

a friend forwarded over to me an article about how the artist vs. the non-artist scans a painting when they are on a good look over some pieces in a gallery .. click here to read the full text .. quite interesting how much the eye darts and what sticks in the brain .. also, once i get a week long shuffle of web issues resolved, i will post the new designs for my post cards and business cards for promo purposes .. both are quite sexy .. both were produced by our friends at august hour productions .. check them out by clicking here cheers ..

kc in paints

i finally captured what i would consider a solid painting of the downtown kc skyline .. it's a part of the permanent private collection and we like it in a free frame courtesy of the grandview school distirct .. enjoy

the planet in the sky

the other morning on my way to work, i saw a sun that looked like a new planet had mushroomed into our galaxy .. it was so nice that i had to pull over immediately and try to get a good picture .. when i did, a motorcycle cop pulled up beside me and asked what i was doing .. i told him that i was taking a picture of the sun .. at that, he looked forward and said 'what sun' to the slowly shrinking miracle sun behind a cloud of gray .. and he said, 'oh, i see it. i thought you were taking a picture of my officer down there.' at that, i finally saw a motorcycle cop with swirling cherries and lamented that i didn't get a better shot of a sun that a digital picture would do no justice for .. cheers.

numbers and sketches

as i write this out, i'm thinking that i'm one of the few that looks at this blog with any regularity .. unless most don't provide feedback .. also, i think i produce too much stuff .. came across some sketches from an unknown period of time in my life .. i've attched one for your viewing pleasure .. thank you for reading .. bye-bye

portable & royalty free

i was thinking today that i have been painting a lot of images of places i would like to visit or live .. in fact, most have been places that i have briefly visited from time to time .. i was also thinking that i would like to embark on a new series called 'royalty free' and extolling the notion of immortalizing the already immortal copyright free imagery available to us all .. i found some NYC skyline shots and an attractive lighthouse that would be nice to etch with paint .. enjoy the warm sun out there .. cheers ..

travel web upgrade

i just updated the 'travel' web portal on joedimino.com - click here to view - this includes a map of existing and future drop offs, along with a page of feedback on the project .. enjoy

auctions and lost pics

on saturday, an individual from KCPT came out to pick up a piece for their spring auction .. it's a long ago piece that has an old saxaphone with wiring coming out of the end of it .. after the piece was picked up, I realized it was one of the very, very few paintings I have that does not have a picture of it .. i was going to post it for your viewing pleasure, but no such picture exists .. instead, you can see it when the auction is aired on the television during their spring drive during April 27 - May 5 .. in the meantime, I'm working on getting an auction employee to send me over a pic .. for now you can see the tax receipt and just imagine .. cheers

cloud hand of spring

the other night i grabbed a pic of a very cool cloud of pending storms trying to engulf the sunset .. all around there were cool images of cumulonimbus clouds bringing in thick rains .. enjoy ..

firecracker canvass rip

yesterday marked the very first installment of 'performance art' in the photo.paint series .. at the request of mr. west and to satiate a 5 year itch of my own, i staged a milk crate platform to explode a standard canvass .. it was filmed, recorded and a new video can be access by clicking here .. it was a delightul project and the results were both expected and unexpected .. i thought there was gonna be more canvass carnage, but the existing holes were quite nice .. cheers
